Dell m1730: The Gaming "Beast"

The XPS M1730 gaming notebook—the machine othe development team used to call "the beast"— is one of the best gaming laptops ever.

Here are the main features that makes it "the beast":

1)It supports the latest Intel processors, including the Core 2 Extreme X7900 processor overclocked to 3.2GHz (Bin+2).

2)It supports dual NVIDIA GeForce Go 8700M GT graphics cards in SLI mode.

3)All models come with a bright 17" Ultrasharp 1920x1200 display with a 7ms response time.

4)It's the first notebook in the world to support AGEIA PhysX 100M mobile physics card.

5)It supports two hard drives in a RAID 0 or 1 configuration

6)It's the first notebook that integrates Logitech's GamePanel LCD, which displays stats and in-game details for a growing list of game titles.

7)It also features a full-sized backlit keyboard that has a 10-key number pad..

Decimate the competition with the enormous power of Dell’s XPSTM M1730, a mobile gaming powerhouse which pushes the boundaries of performance with cutting-edge technologies.

Before buying this laptop, check out one of the top contenders, the Alienware Area-51 m15x

Alienwire Area-51 m15x: The fastest gaming laptop

Get ready to enjoy the ultimate gaming bliss!

With unparalleled performance, top-of-the-line components, Blu-ray playback, HDMI out and a new power-saving option, the Alienwire Area-51 m15x is probably the fastest gaming laptop as of now.
The two key components are the 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme X9000 mobile 'Penryn' processor and GeForce Go 8800M GTX graphics chip, both of which pack a punch and also bump the price up to stratospheric levels.

As can be expected, the 8800M will drain the battery when they’re working at full tilt during a game, but it’s a different story when you’re surfing the web or writing emails as the power saving features in 8800M are surprisingly effective.

Thanks to the backlit keyboard, touch-pad border, logo, alien head, and screen border, the m15x looks nothing short of a well-lit Christmas tree (but note that the backlit keyboard is a $50 add-on). The Alienware Command Center is a software app used to control the lighting, and you can assign different colors to every section or use one color across all the lights. Unlike Dell's XPS M1730, the lights won't strobe or flash, but the backlit keyboard is especially cool, and it's good for accurate typing in low-light situations.

The 15.4-inch wide-screen LCD display offers a 1,920x1,200 native resolution, something that is found in the highest-end 17-inch systems (most 15-inch laptops have 1,280x800 resolutions). A real treat to the eyes for watching Blu-ray movies via the optional Blu-ray optical drive, as well as for cranking games up to the highest resolution possible. Text can look tiny at such high resolutions on a 15-inch screen, but never mind.
Here are the main technical features:

Processor: 2.8GHz Core 2 Extreme X9000
Memory: 4GB DDR2
Storage: 200GB hard drive; 320GB removable hard drive
Optical Drives: Blu-ray burner/DVD±RW
Display: 15.4-inch TFT
24e1 Graphics: nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX (512MB)
Operating System: Windows Vista Home Premium

To talk about the few issues, the laptop has a bland, flimsy case design with some awkward touch controls/mouse. Also, some reports have come from users saying that the laptop gets overheated quickly. So, make sure you get to thoroughly check the downside before fishing out your money for the best gaming laptop.

Peripheral Illumination Correction

Auto Lighting Optimizer
Canon's enhanced Auto Lighting Optimizer technology helps ensure each picture's subject is clearly visible by analyzing image brightness and automatically adjusting dark areas in images so that they appear brighter.

Canon's New Creative Auto Mode

Suunto X10: cool GPS-enabled watch

Suunto has recently announced the successor to their highly popular X9i, the GPS enabled X10.

The Suunto X10 has enhanced GPS performance, which locates the position even faster than the X9i. The improved GPS also tracks better in difficult conditions, such as heavy foliage, for more trustworthy readings when you require it the most. And the bonus, this is not like the usual bulkier hand-held GPS units, the Suunto X10 is hands-free,tie it around your wrist and then focus on the action without worrying about dropping or losing your GPS. The Suunto X10 also records waypoints and routes, allowing users to analyze and catalog trips on a home PC.

The Suunto X10 includes an altimeter, barometer, digital compass, thermometer, and an extensive memory, as well as the usual time/stopwatch functions.

When you are navigating with the Suunto X10 on a preplanned route it can show you the direction you need to head and the estimated time of arrival, everything like a GPS tracker does. There is of course the obvious ‘find home’ preset which can lead the user back to the start point or marked ‘Home’. In addition you can also ‘track back’ function which can guide you back along any recorded route. In short, a complete GPS tracker all on your wrist.

Suunto X10 offers a battery life that is 33% longer than that of X9i and it has its own USB charger which can also be used to transfer data.

It will be available in two colors.

Wind MSI with 160gb hard disk

MSI may be launching a new cool version of its MSI Wind U100, the ultraportable that so far has been a success. This ultraportable gadgets you can find in the stores carries a 80GB memory, but it seems that the novelty in this version will change with the arrival of the 160GB hard drive.

Apparently Microsoft lifted the HDD storage limit on the low-cost XP license to 160GB.

MSI also offers some 120GB MSI Wind models on their shop. Other features are the same, only the hard-drive sizes vary.

Apparently, MSI should also start to offer SSD based MSI Wind U100 to directly compete with more of the Asus Eee PC netbooks.

The ultraportable Everun Note and its touchscreen

The much-awaited ultraportable Everun is one of the coolest gadgets. Everun Note is one of those laptops which cannot be compared to the currently triumphing ones, the Eee PC or the Aspire One. It has a dual-core processor, hence it is extremely heavy, but the main attraction is the touch-screen.

This balance of leading-edge power, battery life and miniaturization cannot be expected to come chaeap but in the world of portable mobile devices, this is really on-the-mark. The recommended sales price is $879 (US, before tax.) which means its way, way cheaper than the other high-performance UMPCs, the Sony UX and the Q1 Ultra Premium and it includes a 16mm pitch keyboard and easy 3G upgrade path. With Windows XP Home (no Vista at the momrent) it is really gonna fly.

Toshiba Mini projector

It seems that Toshiba has succeeded in creating the latest gadgets mini-projector that can be truly useful. This is a projector that measures just 10 x 4.5 x 1.7 centimeters and which tries to compare with the size of a mobile style HTC Touch Pro with a weight of just 100 grams. It said it was able to deliver 10 lumens of light, but better, watch a video in youtube.

The cool gadget's quality is fairly decent in darkness, much better than other prototypes that have been seen.

This type of projector is definitely be gonna thought of as a class of person, who has to give a speech or a presentation somewhere where they do not know whether a projector will be available.

When you go out looking for some of the better high-end cell phones that are in the market today, you will inevitably find that most of them are already prepared to work seriously with a business touch. While business phones are welcome, where is the enjoyment if the fun times dont get mixed up with the serious times . The P3470 captures some amazing other features making it an excellent work phone indeed with the right balance of fun.

It has an elegant design characterizing all the other HTC handsets, plus built-in GPS module for enhanced navigation guides. By using the TomTom NAVIGATOR or CoPilot LIVE maps software on the streets or while driving, and receive the best routes to your destinations, 2D/3D and Driver Safety displays and various other features which will you direct you to the right path when you are on the road. The handset measures 108 x 58.3 x 15.7 inches at 122 grams and sports a large 2.8-inch LCD 65K colors with touch screen with handwriting recognition.

The phone supports also wireless transfers in short range via the Bluetooth technology, and PC connectivity via a mini USB. HTC P3470 has a standby time of up to 240 hours using a standard Li-Ion 1100mAh rechargeable battery. The 2.0 Mega Pixel camera though is a bit under par for toady’s time and age and it will surely not give you the image quality a phone like this should be delivering. At $560, you better buy this only if you really are going to use it to its fullest!

It seems that Sony has not given up the fight against the iPod when it comes to portable music. Sony has been reviving the Walkman brand name by coming up with some pretty funky and functional MP3 players in the past few years. What does Sony have this time? Sony has released three more Walkman players from the S, E and B series that promises to offer a little bit of something for everyone, no matter what they are or who they are or what their taste and budget are like. More on the three new players are available right after the jump.

The S-Series Walkman players are sitting pretty on top of the high end spectrum, allowing owners to enjoy tunes from a variety of download stores as well as personal music collections, allowing the simple “drag and drop” transfer method generally used in computers, for non-DRM music, videos, podcasts and playlists. Along with it also supports all the popular audio and video codecs so that you will be able to maximize your enjoyment, no matter what the source of the file is. The S-Series Walkman players are also the first MP3 players from Sony that feature their very own SensMe Channels function that is able to create channels automatically which are able to adjust with a user’s preferences. This means the SensMe Channels function will analyze a user’s music collection and suggest channels based on each song’s speed, mood and rhythm. Cool, right?

As for the E-series Walkman players, these aim to bring together both high-quality video and audio performance for the perfect device. Following the S-Series’ footsteps, all E-series models are format friendly, supporting the “drag and drop” user interface that allows one to transfer non-DRM files from online music services to Walkman players. In addition, it also supports Windows Media Video (WMV) with DRM, enabling rights-protected movies and video clips from other media collections.Thats one hell of a performance.

Last but not least would be the B-Series Walkman players that goes easy on your pockets without compromising on audio quality. It boasts open support for Windows Media Audio (WMA) and MP3 codecs enables users to buy, copy and manage music to fit their needs. It also features an illuminator that pulses in time with the music whenever the bass button is pressed, while an integrated FM radio ensures you get to catch up on what the local DJs are blabbering about once you’ve run dry of stored music.

Prices are expected to be from $45 to $180, depending on the model selected along with the storage capacity.

Double-faced Touch Panel: Exhibited at Tokyo

Touch screens was a hot thing when it was released, but the thrill died down after their presence was seen almost everywhere in the form of ATMs. The inventors knew something extra was needed to bring them back to limelight. Teraokaseiko Co. Ltd. has displayed a cool touch panel display that can be used from either side of the panel. The double-sided touch screen was made by attaching a resistive touch panel to both sides of a transparent inorganic EL panel that had been developed by Teraokaseiko. The double-faced touch panel was part of the exhibitions at the Sign & Display Show taking place at the Tokyo Big Sight (Aug 28 to Aug 30, 2008).

The inorganic EL panel coems with a pixel count of 256×120 and has an orange monochrome display. The double-side view allows users to use the touch screen from both sides without blocking a part of the display from view. Since the screen can be used from both side, the interactive uses of the panel also increases. Apart from allowing two people to use the touch screen at the same time from both sides of the panel, the double-side touch screen offers other features, such as the pinching motion made famous by the revelotutionary iPhones (tapping and sliding touch movements are also accepted).
