Dell Studio Hybrid line of PCs and Laptops

With its cylindrical design, the Dell Studio Hybrid ($874 direct, $1,064 with 19-inch widescreen monitor) is a new comer on the small-form-factor PC. Its size, though, is comparable to that of the same sector like the Apple Mac mini, and HP's Slimline PCs like the s3330f. No doubt, the Studio Hybrid is an energy-efficient and environment-friendly design (hence the "hybrid" tag), but thanks to its Intel Core 2 Duo T8100 Penryn-based processor, it can keep up not only with the other systems in the compact space but with performance PCs as well. The drawback is that it suffers from weak 3D performance obviously due to the system's integrated graphics. But if you are not the gaming maniac who cant live without playing 3D games, the Studio Hybrid is a good alternative to the boxy mainstream PCs

MSI has launched two new gaming notebooks, the 15.4-inch GX620 and the 17-inch GX720.Both operate on the Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor and have MSI’s own Turbo Drive Engine technology that instantly overclocks the CPU by as much as 15-percent. THe innovative ECO Engine Management system that cycles through gaming, movie, presentation, office and turbo battery modes, is controlled by touch-sensitive buttons above the keyboard.

Graphics comes from NVIDIA’s GeForce 9600 GT 3D video card with 512MB of DDR3 memory, running the onboard LCDs at WSXGA+ resolution or outputting via the HDMI and D-sub ports. System RAM is a whopping 4GB,hard disk storage 320GB SATA and there’s a Blu-ray and DVD-burning optical drive.

Connectivity includes WiFi b/g/n, gigabit ethernet, Bluetooth and a modem. Otherwise there’s an eSATA port, three USB 2.0 ports and a 4-in-1 card reader. The GX620 has stereo speakers while the GX720 has four speakers and a subwoofer; both have a 2-megapixel webcam.

The prices are yet to be announced for this gaming beast, which won a Best Choice Award at COMPUTEX 2008.
